The Hyacinth 'Fat Tuesday Mix' 'Hyacinthus orientalis', is a fall planted bulb. The beautiful bold colors of this mix will stand out in any garden setting as well as they also create a very sweet scent. The varieties are City of Haarlem (yellow) and Peter Stuyvesant (dark blue). These classic varieties feature a compact, densely-flowered spike of strongly-scented blooms. It is an excellent variety for vibrant color in your garden. Grow them in or outdoors for their graceful shape, long-lasting blooms and sweet scent. The elegant flowers are as fade-resistant as they are beautiful. They flower in mid spring for a 3 - 4 week period.Hyacinths require a well-drained soil. If they must be planted in heavy soil, mix some sand into the soil. For the best effects, plant the bulbs in clusters of 5 to 15 bulbs of one variety, or scatter clusters throughout the garden or flower border. Wear gloves to prevent skin irritation.
